How to Prepare for Hardwood Flooring Work

A little preparation helps your hardwood flooring project start smoothly. Imperial will provide project-specific instructions before work begins so you know exactly what needs to be ready.

Clear Personal Items

Remove small, fragile and valuable items from the rooms and nearby work areas. This keeps belongings protected and gives the crew room to work efficiently.

Plan for Furniture and Access

Imperial prefers homeowners to have furniture removed before the start date. If a large item needs assistance, discuss it with Imperial before the project begins. Keep agreed access routes available for the crew and equipment.

Plan for Pets and Children

Pets can remain in the home when appropriate, but sanding and equipment can be noisy. For their comfort and safety, plan to keep pets and children away from active work areas.

Know What to Expect

Imperial uses professional HEPA vacuum equipment and barriers to contain approximately 90% of sanding dust. No sanding process is completely dust free, so Imperial also completes a light cleanup before the job is finished. Project-specific access, ventilation and care instructions will be explained before work begins.
