How to Measure a Room for Hardwood Flooring
A few simple measurements can help you describe the size of your hardwood flooring project and give Imperial useful information before your estimate.
Start With Length × Width
For a rectangular room, measure the longest length and width in feet and multiply them to estimate square footage. Include
closets or connected areas that are part of the flooring project.
Irregular Rooms
For an L-shaped or irregular room, divide the space into smaller rectangles. Calculate each section and add the totals together.
Note Connected Areas
Make note of closets, doorways, transitions, stairs and adjoining rooms that connect to the flooring project. These details help Imperial understand the overall scope.

EXCELLENT Based on 111 reviews Posted on Google Miranda MerkesTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. They did an amazing job!! Original 1950s flooring looks brand new. They even covered up an area where a wall was. You would never know it wasn't all one flush flooring. They had incredible dust free sanding so no icky particles floating around. Jeff also gave perfect instructions on when to walk on, set furniture and rugs and also when and what to clean the floors with. I will follow the instructions meticulously to kept them looking as perfect as they made them.Posted on Google Cynthia KoschmannTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Very happy with the wood floor replacement in my kitchen. Jeremy, Jason and Ben did a great job. From contacting Jeff online to having a finished floor took a little over a month. Everyone was great about updating me with days and times when parts of the project would be done.Posted on Google Cayden WieseTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. It was a pleasure working with Jeff from start to finish. Communication is timely. The in person quote was quick and competitive. Seeing stain samples on our floor helped tremendously, something he did as soon as possible. His service stands out with his experience and long term crew of employees. He and his team was able to get our 1800 sqft home completely sanded, stained, and sealed in 1 week. It turned out beautifully, and the sections that were previously missing wood now look perfectly seamless.Posted on Google Steven WeberTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had a flooring refinishing project scheduled and discovered an unexpected repair issue the day before work was set to begin. Jeff came out late that evening to evaluate the problem and walk us through practical solutions so our timeline wouldn’t be impacted. He was incredibly flexible, adjusting his schedule and resources to complete the repair and refinish the floors without delaying the project. The level of responsiveness and commitment to keeping things on track truly exceeded our expectations.Posted on Google Joan PrestonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Imperial Wood Floors refinished my 25 year old wood floor in great room. In the process they lightened it from original color and put down extra coat on high traffic area. It looks beautiful. I'm pleased with their work.Posted on Google Laura HayTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
